Sessions will last from 2:45 to 3:45.

1. What is BLAST?

BLAST stands for Building Lasting Academic Success Together. It is an after-school opportunity for students to complete homework in a quiet, supervised setting. These are not intended to be one-on-one tutoring sessions, but a teacher is on hand to supervise and guide students. Students are welcome to bring a reasonable snack to eat during the break.

2. When and where does it meet?

We meet most Tuesdays and Thursdays (check the calendar for exact dates) from 2:45 to 3:45 in the Library Media Center. Students need to arrange for their own transportation home. 

3. How do I sign my child up?

The official registration link will be up by August 31. (Opening this in Firefox or Safari will work best. You may need to wait a minute for it to load.) Your child must be signed up online in order to attend. Please let us know if your child will NOT be there for any of the days you chose; we do take attendance, and this helps us to know whether to expect your child.

4. Do students need to stay the entire time, or may students leave early?

We expect students to stay until 3:50 unless we have other instructions about that from you.

5. What is expected of students?

Arrive on time and stay until 3:45 unless your parent contacts us or comes upstairs to collect you early.

Have a positive attitude, or at least a peaceful and cooperative one. We're happy you're here.

Sit by yourself, not with friends unless you have permission from the supervisor.

Check IC and teachers’ websites to see what work you need to do. If you run out of homework, you may read, write thank-you letters to your family and teachers, or silently meditate. :-)

Do not listen to music or text; ask permission to use devices. Use only the first row of computers, please.

You may borrow textbooks from the cart. Please return them before you leave.

Ask for help! That’s what we’re here for.

Please use the Arctic restrooms if needed. You may not go downstairs or into other pods.

Fill out the exit slip to tell us what you accomplished.

Wait downstairs for your ride or leave school property immediately if you’re walking/biking.
